Are you ever reading something you do not quite understand? Or watching it on Tv? You 'sort' of understand it, but you cannot quite get a grip on it. If you read about or see a difficult subject you might much easier understand it if the agenda or the author would explicate a tiny more with some examples. Then his blab blab would suddenly make sense to you, since the example is down to earth and understandable for whatever with an open mind.

For example, if in the economic news there is a article on oil prices and the reporter tells us that the arrival months the prices of oil go up again, like every year nearby this time, you may nod your head and think 'tss tss' or you may think 'huh?', what does he mean? His annotation will not indeed stick with you since it is just a bit foggy for you.
What if that reporter in one sentence had added: "The oil prices go up again the arrival summer months since every person is taking his car and goes on vacation, so the request of gas will be a lot bigger." Now that makes sense to you, does it not? Of procedure the request grows; you yourself will voyage by car as well...
If you would make it a habit to give every conception you have one or two examples to explicate it to somebody else, or to explicate it for yourself, you would indeed train your brain in doing so.
